NOÉ has recently been looking for a garment manufacturer in Eastern Europe to produce the future ready to wear collections. It is important to us, that the women making our garments will receive a living wage and are working in a safe working environment. Eastern Europe, because its closer to Switzerland (transport and travel) but there is also a history in textile and garment production. And now we have found a perfect match.
Our future production place is located in Moldova. The organization is concerned with tackling an issue in Moldova which is human trafficking, and the lack of education for women previously being involved in sexual exploitation. Women coming from this background receive the possibility to be trained as a dressmaker and furthermore receive professional mentoring, meanwhile also being treated psychologically.
NOÉ has visited the place this May, to see how transparent the organization is and how well the women and employees are being treated. We have been deeply touched by the work that has been done there, and the passion and professionalism are apparent.
For now we can serve you with some first impressions of our trip, but will keep you posted about the first prototypes being made. Let us know what you think!
